A bill that jumped for no reason, a damp skirting board, or the sound of water running when every tap in the house is off.
Finding it before digging
Most Perth homes run poly or copper under a slab, a paved courtyard or a driveway. Digging to find a leak is the expensive part, so we do not start there. Acoustic gear listens for the escape at the pipe, thermal imaging picks up the temperature difference on a hot water line, and between the two we can usually mark the spot inside a metre.
That normally means one cut instead of a trench.
After hours
Burst mains do not wait for Monday. If water is running and you cannot stop it, turn the supply off at the meter and ring the emergency line.
